About Us

NSE Clearing provides secure and efficient post-trade clearing services and ensures confidence among market participants and stability of the financial system through robust settlement guarantee mechanism. Established in 1996 as the first clearing corporation in India to provide settlement guarantee, today NSE Clearing is not only the largest central counterparty (CCP) in the Indian capital markets but also the largest in the world in terms of its own contribution towards its guarantee fund, number of fully segregated investor accounts, and number of transactions cleared.

NSE Clearing maintains a Core Settlement Guarantee Fund of over INR 12000 crores (USD 1.4 billion) to ensure seamless settlements. Out of this, over INR 5,300 crores (about USD 600 million) are contributed by NSE Clearing itself. NSE Clearing identifies positions, margins and collateral at client level, for over 20 crores (200 million) registered investors with value of assets exceeding INR 7.5 lakh crores (about USD 90 billion).

NSE Clearing operates efficient clearing and settlement processes and was the first clearing corporation to accelerate cash equities settlement under T+1 settlement cycle. NSE Clearing also helps monitor appropriate delivery of securities from end-client accounts and effects direct settlements of securities to be paid out to end clients, ensuring transparency and protection of investor assets. The operations carried out by NSE Clearing are supported by highly capable and resilient in-house developed systems that manage large-scale and real-time transaction processing, clearing an average of 10 crores (100 million) transactions daily with peak reaching up to 30 crores (300 million) per day and 35 lakh (3.5 million) settlement instructions per day.

NSE Clearing’s leadership in post-trade services and innovation has been recognized through multiple industry awards, reinforcing its position as a trusted and forward-looking clearing corporation.
